NATCHITOCHES - One of the nation's top collegiate performing groups, the Wind Symphony at Illinois State University, will present a concert at Northwestern State University Tuesday, Feb. 20. The concert will be at 8 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

The concert is part of a tour by the Wind Symphony in conjunction with a performing at the College Band Directors National Association annual conference at the University of North Texas. The Illinois State group was one of six bands chosen to perform from among 30 applicants. Previously, they have performed at the American Bandmasters Association Convention.

On the tour, the Wind Symphony will premiere David Maslanka's "Symphony No. 5" which was commissioned for the group. Maslanka has become a well-known composer for winds and percussion. He has written a wide variety of chamber, orchestral and choral pieces.
