FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - A 16-day travel study tour designed to capture the beauty of Limerick, Killarney, Waterford, Dublin and Galway, Ireland is being offered by Northwestern State University May 19-June 3, 1998.

Assistant Professor of Art Dr. Bill Bryant will serve as the instructor for the class, which offers three hours of credit in art at NSU. The tour may be taken without registering for academic credit with permission from the instructor.

The tour will depart from Shreveport with connections in Atlanta and then non-stop to Shannon, Ireland. The art study begins in Killarney where the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula will provide subject matter for the students to paint. Killarney is a center of the tourism market in the southwest of Ireland. The group will then travel through the countryside taking the scenic routes to Waterford for a three night stay where the manufacturing plant for Waterford Crystal will be a showplace for the artistry of glass work.

From Waterford, participants will take a short drive to Dublin where museums, castles, galleries, libraries and the world famous Guiness Brewery will serve as the backdrop for art students to practice their skills.

Galway, located in the Northwest part of Ireland, is the final city for the group to tour. The area is abundant with the green lushness associated with Ireland and will provide an opportunity for the art students to explore the shades of green colors in their works.

The price of $2,599 includes round trip air fare, hotel accommodations based on double occupancy, full Irish breakfast each morning, eight dinners, a cruise on the Lough Corrib in Galway, admission fees to Blarney Castle, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle, the Rock of Cashel, the Waterford Crystal Factory, Muckross House, Kylemore Abbey, King John's Castle, Kilkenny Castle, Newgrange and Clonmacnoise, porterage of two bags, service charges and government taxes. Flight bags, ticket wallets and group baggage tags are included.

The three undergraduate credit hours offered include preparation for an exhibition of painting at NSU after returning from Ireland. Registration for academic credit is not included in the price and will be according to university fees applicable at the time of the study tour.

A $100 deposit is required and final payment is due February 15.
