FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES-Natchitoches native Luke Brouillette will perform with the NSU Jazz Orchestra Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. The concert opens the Jazz Orchestra's 2002-2003 season.

Brouillette is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music where he earned a Diploma in Professional Music with guitar as his major instrument. From there, he worked in the original music scene in the Boston area as a guitarist/singer/songwriter and as a leader and sideman doing professional live and recording studio performances.

In 1991, he began teaching professionally in the Boston area before returning to his home in Natchitoches in 1993. He now teaches private guitar lessons and guitar class at NSU as well as playing professional performances. The lessons focus on popular and jazz playing styles supported with methods from the Berklee College of Music.

The program will include a rendition of "Got a Match" by Chick Corea, arranged by Grammy nominee Mike Bogle of Arlington, Texas, "Skunk Funk" by Randy Brecker and "Quintessence" by Quincy Jones.

This year's concert series also includes award winning jazz quartet Astral Project on Nov. 6, Byron Stripling and Ms. Zeno, the Louisiana Mojo Queen, on March 28 as the kick-off concert to celebrate the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial and a surprise guest for the final concert on April 5.
