FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - The Louisiana Scholars' College will present a panel discussion on the Book of Job on Monday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in room 227 of Morrison Hall.

Panelists will be Rabbi Arnold Task of the Congregation Gemiluth Chassodim in Alexandria, Sister Marilyn Vassallo, a canon lawyer with the Diocese of Shreveport, and Rev. Kathy Muder of the First Presbyterian Church in Natchitoches. Jeff Hiseley, a freshman in the Scholars' College, will serve as moderator.

The panel discussion is part of the Scholars' College freshmen level Texts and Traditions I course that deals with Greek, Hebrew, and Roman culture in the classical period.

Each panelist will briefly present his or her interpretation of the Book of Job. A question and answer session will follow.

"We have done panel discussions of this great book of world literature every fall for the past several years," said Dr. Fraser Snowden, professor of philosophy in the College. "Students really enjoy hearing alternative interpretations of Job and discussing the vexing problem of apparently unmerited suffering in the world."

Admission is free and open to the public.

Rabbi Task's participation is sponsored by the Jewish Chautauqua Society of New York.
