FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- Northwestern State University has formed an Education Mobilization Team to better develop opportunities for students. The team includes several campus department heads who will research and develop opportunities for students who would like to be a part of the college community but would like to stay near home to take courses.
The team recently made its first stop at NSU's branch in Jonesville where they were hosted by NSU alumnus Ben Sandifer, who has actively promoted educational opportunities in the Jonesville area. Team members who traveled to Jonesville included Director of Electronic and Continuing Education Darlene Williams, Director of Enrollment Management Dr. Mary Edith Stacy, Director of University Recruiting Jana Lucky, and Luke Dowden, assistant director of university recruiting for graduate and adult studies.
Team members initially met with Sandifer at a meeting of the Jonesville Lions Club.
"The meeting provided the perfect opportunity to meet and greet with community leaders," said Lucky. "It is important that we provide the Jonesville area with the courses and services that they want and need."
After the meeting, team members toured the town of Jonesville and met with Donald Money, principal of Block High School and Guidance Counselor Christy White. Money provided information about the kinds of course offerings that would benefit his students and teachers as they further their education.
The team has scheduled another trip to the Jonesville area
on Tuesday, Nov. 4. to distribute additional information about
course offerings in the Jonesville area.
