NATCHITOCHES -A course on kenpo karate will be taught at Northwestern State University beginning Tuesday, Aug. 28. The non-credit class is sponsored by NSU's Department of Continuing Education. The course will be taught until Dec. 6 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Room 127 of the Health and Human Performance Building.
Bruce Adams will be the instructor. Kenpo karate teaches how to maneuver so that the opponent is unwittingly placed in a vulnerable position. It employs kicks, punches, blocks, judo, throws, locks, takedowns and more. According to Adams, kenpo karate can help develop coordination, discipline and self-confidence.
