FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- Children of all ages will be able to learn of the many folk traditions of Louisiana as the 2001 Natchitoches/NSU Folk Festival once again provides KidFest.
This year, members of the North Division Riding Clubs will provide activities related to horse riding. Mardi Gras Indian costume makers will demonstrate to children and adults the ways in which their intricate costumes are made.
Exciting contests will provide a place for children to show off their yo-yoing, jump rope games, and handclap games. Fun games such as spoon races, egg tosses, and others will be held. Children can also participate in domino tournaments along with adults.
Children will also enjoy the demonstrations through out the festival area. A number of artisans will be at the festival to display their crafts, food and music.
The Natchitoches/NSU Folk Festival has been recognized as a four-time winner of the prestigious "Top Twenty vents in the Southeast" Award given annually by the Southeast Tourism Society. The Festival was also selected for inclusion in the Library of Congress, Bicentennial Celebration: Local Legacies Project.
Discounted weekend passes are available for the Festival at $12, a $2 discount from the on-site purchase price. Festival donors who contribute at least $25 are also eligible to receive a Festival pass and additional benefits.
