FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES Dr. Margaret S. Kilcoyne, director of Business Programs and an assistant professor of business at Northwestern State University, was selected as the recipient of the 2005 Delta Pi Epsilon Doctoral Research Award.
Kilcoyne's dissertation, "Identifying Skills Needed by Office Information Systems Graduates in the Changing Work Environment: Perceptions of Administrative Support Occupations Workers" was completed at Louisiana State University under the direction of Dr. Donna H. Redmann.
"This is an extremely high honor and I am extremely gratified to have my work recognized," said Kilcoyne.
This award is the 64th presented by the Society since the program began in 1940. Kilcoyne received the award at the 2005 National Business Education Association Conference in Anaheim, California. She presented her doctoral research at the conference and her work will be published in the Delta Pi Epsilon Journal, a national refereed journal.
In her dissertation, Kilcoyne sought to identify the skills that need to be taught in an associate degree program for office information systems with implications for curricular revision. More than 150 members of the International Association of Administrative Professionals in Louisiana, Mississippi and east Texas participated in the study.
Kilcoyne has been at NSU since 1989 and has been a full-time
member of Northwestern's faculty since 1996. She has also served
as director of the Office of Cooperative Education and the Carl
D. Perkins Communication/Presentation Center. Kilcoyne successfully
obtained more than $600,000 in grants for the cooperative education
program and other related programs.
