FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Students from Northwestern State University were among the top finishers in the recent Louisiana Association of College Composition Writing Competition.

NSU was the top performing institution in the undergraduate competition with students placing in all three categories. Kirsten Weierholt of Florien placed second in Undergraduate Fiction. Leigh Ann Price of Winnfield won an honorable mention in Undergraduate Personal Essay and Undergraduate Poetry.

Graduate student Heather Conrad of Natchitoches won third prize in the Graduate Personal Essay category and third place in a non-creative writing category, Graduate Research Essay.

Each of the students were in a creative writing class taught by Assistant Professor of English Julie Kane.
