FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University’s Department of Language and Communication is making the skills of its faculty available to Natchitoches Parish businesses and organizations through professional workshops.
The Corporate Professional Development Workshops cover topics including business correspondence, report writing, grant writing, giving effective presentations, organizational communication, grammar overview and more.
According to Workshops Director Stephanie Masson, workshops are tailored to the business or organization. Once a topic is selected, personnel from the Department of Language and Communication will meet with representatives from the organization to customize material to meet their needs. Workshops can be offered either as half-day, whole day or a series of courses taught in the workplace or at NSU.
“The workshops are an excellent opportunity for employees to enhance their skills through interaction with highly qualified college instructors,” said Masson. “The workshops will equip employees with new skills, allow them to polish skills they already have and offer fresh ideas and new insights on how to accomplish tasks in the workplace.”
The cost of workshops varies depending on the number of participants and length of the course.
The Department of Language and Communication has long been committed to the idea that workers who have good communication skills will enhance economic development. The idea for the workshops originated from that concept and the belief that good communication skills are learned over a lifetime, not just as part of the college curriculum.
