NATCHITOCHES ­The 46th annual Miss Northwestern ­ Lady of the Bracelet Pageant will be held Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. in the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium.

Twelve NSU students are scheduled to compete in the pageant, which is a preliminary pageant for the Miss Louisiana Pageant. The winner will receive more than $5,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Admission is $5 and free for NSU and Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts students.

Contestants include Denise Quezaire of Opelousas, Aimee Hoffman of Rockport, Maine; Lacey Willet of Summerfield, Christina Fisher of Bossier City, Heather McCarthy of Slidell, Courtney LaCaze of Leesville, Sheretta Fields, Lindsay Visicaro and Crystal Whitman of Shreveport; Victoria Smith of Arlington, Texas; Devin Allen of Benton and Andrea Pang of Baton Rouge.

Quezaire is a broadcast journalism major. Her platform issue is "The Awareness and Prevention of Sickle Cell Anemia."

Hoffman is a business administration and accounting major. Her platform issue is "Redefining Ideal Beauty."

Willet is a psychology major. Her platform issue is "F.A.C.E. The Music, Louisiana."

Fisher is a business administration major. Her platform issue is "Promoting Positive Self Worth Through The Art of Dance."

McCarthy is a music education major. Her platform issue is "The Effect of Music on Children."

A broadcast journalism major, LaCaze's platform issue is "Project LEAD (Louisiana Education on Alcohol and Drugs.")

Fields is a business administration major. Her platform issue is "Breast Cancer Awareness."

Smith is a biological sciences major. Her platform issue is "Cardiovascular Education."

A theatre major, Visicaro's platform issue is "Animal Cruelty."

Allen is a general studies major. Her platform issue is "Law Enforcement ­ Respect Voices and Choices."

Pang is a chemistry and pre-pharmacy major. Her platform issue is "The Awareness and Prevention of Heart Disease."

Whitman is a public relations major. Her platform issue is "D.O.V.E.S. Domestic Education and Support."

Entertainment will also be provided by the NSU Men's Chorus, conducted by Michael Rorex, the University Jazz Orchestra, directed by Galindo Rodriguez, the Demon Dazzlers and the LOB Dancers. Production choreography is by Abraham Anthony, Susan Hussey and Pia Wyatt.
