FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES An exhibition of recent small works by Mary Lusk of Nacogdoches, Texas, opens Monday Jan. 31, in the Orville Hanchey Gallery 2 at Northwestern State University. Lusk, a certified art teacher, will show paintings, collages, and drawings. She earned a master's degree in art at NSU and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Stephen. F. Austin State University.
In conjunction with the opening of her show on Jan. 31, Lusk will present a workshop to painting students in the afternoon and will be on hand for an evening reception in the gallery at 7 p.m.
According to Lusk, her works are "both personal and mythological, and are layered like chapters in a book." She says she draws from her life, heritage and intuition.
Lusk has had solo exhibitions in Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Her work has been included in numerous group exhibitions in the region. She is represented in permanent collections in this country and abroad.
Hanchey Gallery 2 is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
