Roy O. Martin Lumber Company is an Alexandria-based company who owns and professionally manages almost 500,000 acres of timberland spreading across 30 parishes. The company was founded in 1923 as a family business dedicated to the forest products industry. During its 80-year history, the company has grown to become one of the largest independently owned wood products companies in the Southern U.S.

Each year, the Company plants 10,000 12,000 acres of timberland about 4-6 million trees. Roy O. Martin Lumber Company has almost 1,100 employees. In addition to its timberlands, its major operations include a plywood plant at Chopin, a pine utility pole treating company in Pineville and a hardwood sawmill and OSB mill at LeMoyen. All these operations have been Forest Stewardship Council certified to begin providing significant volumes of products throughout North America and to international markets.

Martco Plywood in Chopin is a state-of-the-art plant dedicated to producing the highest quality plywood possible. Carefully engineered, the plant is equipped with a high speed lathe, computerized veneer dryers and stackers, composers, automatic lay-up lines and presses, all built by Durand-Raute. The Durand-Raute equipment and the company's veneer pluggers, patch lines, and Kimwood sander make Martco Plywood the most advanced facility in North America.

By building a completely new Plywood Plant from the ground up, Martco was able to engineer a production process where quality is monitored at every step.
