NATCHITOCHES-The Mrs. H.D. Dear Sr. and Alice Estelle Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts at Northwestern State University recognized some of its top students at the McCutcheon Honors Recital held this week.
Six students were selected by the music faculty as representative of the finest in music performance during final examinations for studio lessons in the fall. The McCutcheon Honors Recital is held at the beginning of each spring semester and is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCutcheon who have award a performance scholarship to each of the recipients.
The winners who took part in the recital were:
Michael Bartnik of Bossier City, clarinet, a student of Dr.
Bruce Bullock and Jack Bradley;
Randall Cantu of McAllen, Texas , bass trombone, a student of
Dr. Mark Thompson;
Chris Price of Natchitoches , voice, a student of Phyllis Seigler;
Manshan Yang of Guangzhou, China, violin, a student of Dan Santelices;
Jane Truksa of Riga, Latvia, piano, a student of Dr. Nikita Fitenko;
Mary Watson of Natchitoches, percussion , a student of Kenneth
Green
The students were accompanied by Rudolf Ozolins, Truksa, Katerina Zaitseva and Lane Dunn in the performance held in Magale Recital Hall.
