NATCHITOCHES -A program sponsored by the Department of Journalism at Northwestern State University, and featuring Dr. John C. Merrill will air on NSU 22 (Channel 22 on Natchitoches cable) over the next three months. "American Media: Friend or Foe?" will air July 3 to Sept. 1 on NSU 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Wednesdays, and Friday. The special series features conversations with Merrill and is hosted by Dr. Don Hatley, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

Merrill, a national authority on media ethics, is the Erbon W. and Marie Wise Endowed Chair in Journalism at NSU. He has written more than 50 books about journalism and philosophy and has taught for more than 50 years. Merrill is currently professor emeritus at the University of Missouri-Columbia and plans to return to Northwestern next year as the Wise Endowed Chair.
