NATCHITOCHES- A series of classes on some of the most widely used Microsoft programs along with the the basics of E-mail, word processing and the Internet will be presented by Northwestern State University's Office of Electronic and Continuing Education beginning Sept. 30. Sharon Laycock will be the instructor.

Three classes on Microsoft Word will start on Sept. 30. The basics will be taught on Sept. 30 with intermediate features on Oct. 2 and advanced features on Oct. 7. Each course will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Room 103 of Williamson Hall. The classes are $45 each or all three for $100.

The basics of Excel 2002 will be presented on Oct. 14 followed by an intermediate class on Oct. 16 and an advanced class on Oct. 21. Each course will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Room 103 of Williamson Hall. The classes are $45 each or all three for $100.

Classes on PowerPoint will be taught on Nov. 4, 6 and 11. PowerPoint classes start with the basics and move on to an intermediate and advanced levels. The classes will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Room 103 of Williamson Hall. The classes are $45 each or all three for $100.

E-mail, word processing and Internet basics for senior citizens will be taught on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. until noon in Room 103 of Williamson Hall. The course is $50. The class will introduce the basics of modern communications through the use of an Internet ready computer. Participants will learn basic word processing for the purpose of sending e-mail with or without attachments. Those taking the class will also learn to use the Internet for basic information retrieval.
