NATCHITOCHES - Actress and comedienne Mona Miller will present a series of workshops for theatre students at Northwestern State University Oct. 9-11.
Miller has worked extensively in television, radio, theatre, recording and nightclubs. She was a guest star on Magnum P.I. with Tom Selleck and has worked at top hotels and clubs in New York and Los Angeles including the Waldorf-Astoria, Dangerfield's, Bitterend, off Broadway, at Palson's, the Bonaventure, Studio 1, the Comedy Store and the Sheraton Grand.
Miller was chosen Miss Congeniality in the Miss New York Pageant won by Vanessa Williams, who went on to be named Miss America. Miller earned a spot in the pageant by winning the title of Miss Manhattan. She also competed in the Miss Indiana Pageant.
Later, Miller hosted her own one-woman show, the Mona Miller Show, as well as Miss America preliminary pageants. She has also sung the national anthem for sporting events and has performed with professional opera companies.
Miller later started the Communication Arts Company - a program about understanding human behavior, thoughts, feelings and patterns. The program uses the arts to tap into the subconscious mind.
