NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University was well-represented at this year's Miss Louisiana Pageant in Monroe, and the six NSU students in the competition made their presence felt. All six entrants left the pageant with honors.
Three Northwestern students finished in the Top 10. Casey Jo Crowder of Shreveport, Miss Bossier Parish, was second runner up. Miss Central Louisiana Farrah Reyna of Rosepine was third runner up. Shelly Colvin of Winnfield, Miss Natchitoches City of Lights, also made the Top 10.
Miss Baton Rouge Jamie Freeman of Plaquemine was named Miss Congeniality and was a preliminary talent winner and non-finalist talent winner. Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet Rebecca Dauzat of Marksville was a non-finalist talent winner and Jana Harrod of Rosepine, Miss Days in the Park, was the winner of the People's Choice Award.
"We are extremely proud of how all the entrants from Northwestern did," said Director of Student Activities and Organizations Carl P. Henry III. "For all of them to win awards was quite an honor. Each of them was an outstanding representative of their pageant and Northwestern."
Heather Dupree of Baton Rouge, Miss Louisiana Lagniappe, was crowned Miss Louisiana and will represent the state at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City later this year.
