FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University and the City of Natchitoches will welcome students and their families to campus during the annual Move-in Day Sunday Aug. 19 from noon until 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by NSU's Division of Student Affairs

Representatives from Northwestern and the City of Natchitoches will assist students moving into campus residence halls by helping them unload their belongings and get settled into their campus home.

"We want the students and their parents to feel welcome from the moment they get on campus," said Assistant Director of Student Activities and Organizations Susanna Deshotel. "Move-in Day has become a Northwestern tradition. It shows how important our students are to the university and the people of Natchitoches."

NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb along with faculty and staff will be available to help students. Deshotel also said members of the Natchitoches Fire Department, Natchitoches Police Department, and Northwestern Greek organizations along with NSU student-athletes will also take part.

The Natchitoches Times is also assisting students and parents by making copies of its monthly Historic Natchitoches tabloid available. The Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce will also provide city maps. Members of Natchitoches civic organizations will be at campus entrances to direct students and parents to their residence hall.

On Sunday evening, The Foundation (formerly the Wesley Westminster Foundation) will hold a cookout for students and parents beginning at 6 p.m. in front of Iberville Cafeteria.
