NATCHITOCHES - If you want to learn to decorate a cake or fix your car, Northwestern State University's Office of Continuing Education will offer classes in October to teach you how.

A class on basic cake decorating will be taught on Monday evenings from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Room 200 of the Family and Consumer Science Building. The class begins Oct. 5 and ends Nov. 2. Mary Lou McClung is the instructor. There is a $50 fee for the course plus a $10 supply fee.

"Basic Car Care for Women" will be offered Oct. 13-15 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Winningham Cane River Chrysler on the Highway 1 North Bypass. Men can also sign up for the class. The fee for the course is $35 plus a $10 supply fee.

Instructors Dianne Winningham, Nick Noe, Kim Elkins and Sgt. Howard L. McKee, Jr. will provide basic instructions and information for timely and proper care of a vehicle to ensure safe and cost effective transportation.

Topics include hands-on instruction on fixing a flat, changing oil, head and tail light bulbs and fuses. After completing this course, participants should be able to save money on car care costs and be prepared to handle some emergencies on the highway.
