NATCHITOCHES -Courses on leadership and personal investing are being offered in February through Northwestern State University's Office of Continuing Education.
A course, "Fundamental Skills of Leading People," will be taught on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. in Room 229 of Russell Hall. The fee is $59 plus a $15 workbook. Dr. Thomas R. Watson is the instructor.
The class is the first one in the "Supervision Series." Managers, supervisors and team leaders will learn the basic foundations of supervisory management. Participants will learn methods to maintain employee self-esteem, focus on behavior, encourage employee participation and listen to motivate.
"How to Achieve Financial Independence" will be presented Monday, Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in Room 229 of Russell Hall. The fee for the course is $49. Spouses can attend at no charge if they pay the required materials fee of $5. An optional 225-page textbook is also available for $39.
Watson is the instructor. The course is designed to teach middle-class Americans how to live debt-free and achieve financial independence. Participants will learn how to use the "Linear Math, Critical Path" method to pay off consumer debt and a mortgage, operate 100 percent on cash and never need credit again.
A course, Fundamentals of Investing" will be offered on Feb. 22 and 24 in Room 229 of Russell Hall. The instructors are William H. Cross and Sharon Sampite. The fee for the class is $40.
Cross and Sampite will give participants an understanding of investment alternatives available to them and how those investments apply to their situation. The course will cover stocks, bonds and mutual funds as well as other investment considerations.
