NATCHITOCHES-Forty-six new faculty have been named at Northwestern State University for the 2002-03 academic year. The new faculty include those who have been given permanent status or assumed new duties for the academic year.

Joining the faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences are department head and associate professor Dr. Michael Bodri and assistant professor Dr. Nathan Hutchings.

In the Mrs. H.D. Dear Sr. and Alice Estelle Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts, assistant professor and Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra Conductor Dr. Charles Demuynck and assistant professor Keith Pinkston are new faculty members.

Joining the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Physics are associate professor Dr. Walter Flomer and assistant professors Dr. Darrell Fry and Dr. Andrei Ludu.

Dr. Joel Worley is the new dean of the College of Business and also holds the rank of professor. New associate professors include Dr. C. Michael Collins, Dr. William L. Lomerson, Dr. Pamela Miller, Dr. Leslie C. Mueller. Dr. Richard M. Daily and Dr. Gordon B. Heslop join the faculty as assistant professors while Tanya Conlay, Stephen Hickman and Sarah Wright will be temporary instructors

Dr. Cathy Seymour will assume new duties in the College of Education as director of Student Teaching and Field Experiences. New faculty include assistant professors Dr. Derwood Duke, Dr. Janice L. Smith and Dr. Dee Anna Willis and instructors Leonard J. Clark and Constance Melder.

Dr. Michelle Fazio will be a new assistant professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences while Dr. Catherine McMillan will be an assistant professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance.

Instructor Jennifer Anderson is a new faculty member in the Department of Journalism. Becoming faculty members in the Department of Language and Communication are instructor Michelle Pichon, temporary assistant professor Dr. Kristen Lee Over and temporary instructors Jodie Blair and Pamela Francis.

Associate Professor Dr. Thomas Hanson will return to the Department of Mathematics. Other new faculty in the department will be Mary Nell Lott, an instructor and coordinator of space science, Instructor Roxanne Lane and Temporary Assistant Professor Linda Simmons.

Four new faculty will be teaching in the College of Nursing, Associate Professor Dr. Dorothy Hubbard and Assistant Professors Katherine Arterberry, Janice Girdley and Stephen Hernandez.

Dr. Kelvin Bentley will be acting head of the Department of Psychology. Instructor Martha Smith, Temporary Assistant Professor Jody Biscoe and Temporary Instructor Neeru Deep will join the psychology faculty.

In the Department of Social Sciences, Michael Kane, Shirley Ann Snyder and V. Elaine Thompson will be new faculty members. Kane will teach on the Leesville-Fort Polk campus.
