NATCHITOCHES- "Creole Legacies, The Current Status and Future Prospects of Creole Studies Research" is the theme of this historical conference to be held Oct. 23-25 in New Orleans. The theme, Creole Legacies, will be presented by international scholars and researchers along with those from the United States who will cover subject numerous topics and studies related to the Creole culture and history.
The Creole Studies Consortium, established by The Louisiana Creole
Heritage Center at Northwestern State University and the Deep
South Regional Humanities Center at Tulane University is the sponsor
for this first time event of its kind. The Consortium's goal
is to tell the story of the Creole people who figure prominently
in the history of not only Louisiana but that of America itself.
This gathering of scholars, researchers and the general public
provides an opportunity to share academic research findings and
family histories in a venue never before presented.
The conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel on Canal
Street. The early bird registration fee of $55 covers admission
to all sessions and the Friday night reception. The deadline
to qualify for this reduced fee has been extended from Sept. 9
