FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University police are reminding students and visitors to campus for the spring semester to turn down the sound when driving on campus. University police will ticket those who violate university rules against playing loud music on campus, according to Executive Assistant to the President Robert Crew.
“University police have received complaints from faculty, staff and students on all areas of campus about people playing loud music in their cars,” said Crew. “The music was so loud that it was disturbing classes or making it difficult for students to study. Our first priority is academics and behavior which makes it difficult for students to learn will not be tolerated.”
Those who violate the university rule can be fined $25 and can also be ticketed under a City of Natchitoches ordinance prohibiting loud music. Those who break the Natchitoches ordinance are subject to a $514.50 fine for a first offense.
