NATCHITOCHES - Two faculty members at Northwestern State University's Leesville-Fort Polk campus made presentations at the annual fall convention of the Louisiana Council of Teachers of English held recently in Baton Rouge. The conference was titled, "The Next Millennium: Bridging the Gap between Language and Life."
Instructor of English Melba Wied presented a paper, "Correcting Grammar Errors." Professor of English Dr. Paralee Norman was part of a three-person panel presenting "Newsletters for Organization and Classes." Norman is editor of LCTE Council Notes, the official newsletter for the Louisiana Council of Teachers of English.
Norman also published a review of Christine Wiltz's New Orleans-based novel "Glass House," which appeared in the fall edition of the Louisiana English Journal. Wiltz was the keynote speaker at the conference.
In addition, Norman also had an entry on Irish Victorian satirist Marmion Savage accepted for inclusion in the "New Dictionary of National Biography," published by the Oxford University Press.
