FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University's Division of Nursing has been granted preliminary accreditation of its baccalaureate and master's nursing education programs by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Board of Commissioners.
According to Dr. Norann Planchock, dean of the College of Nursing, preliminary approval was granted based upon current accreditation status from other accrediting bodies, including the National League for Nursing, and the application submitted.
Planchock says the CCNE accrediting team will conduct an on-site visit to the Shreveport campus in 2003 for final approval of the program.
CCNE is a newly formed accrediting board for baccalaureate and higher education in nursing based in Washington, D.C.
NSU's baccalaureate program was the first in the state to receive accreditation from the National League for Nursing and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. The Nursing Continuing Education program is accredited as a provider of Nursing Continuing Education by the American Nurses Credentialling Center.
