FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Dr. Lissa Pollacia, associate professor of computer science at Northwestern State University, recently made a presentation at a statewide Technology Transfer Seminar sponsored by NASA.

Pollacia presented research on the NASA/JOVE Project at NSU under the section "Louisiana Success Stories". The focus of the presentation centered on how NSU contributes to the transfer of pure science and research developed by NASA to commercial and industrial applications, thus making the United State more economically competitive.

The NASA/JOVE project is an initiative by NASA in cooperation with universities throughout the country, including NSU, designed to encourage students to pursue careers in science, engineering and aerospace fields. The focus also includes increasing public awareness of the importance of NASA and these fields to our national security and economic benefits in the country.

The seminar was held for business, industry and governmental representatives from across the state and for employees in federal programs including NASA's Johnson and Stennis Space Centers. The purpose was to disseminate basic research, developed by NASA, into the marketplace in order to keep America competitive.
