FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES -Two volumes of poetry by Northwestern State University Assistant Professor of English Dr. Nate Pritts are scheduled to be published in the next few weeks.
Monday, Monday is slated to be published in about two weeks while a second volume, Big Crisis, will be printed in October. Both are slim volumes of poetry called chapbooks.
'Chapbooks are a way of democratizing publishing," said Pritts. "Small publishers are able to produce writers who have not won major awards and get their work in front of people."
Pritts said Monday, Monday is one long poem he wrote over the course of a year, writing a couple of lines each Monday.
Big Crisis is a series of 25 poems.
"Each one of them deals with some type of personal crisis and how each one is or is not brought to an end," said Pritts.
Pritts is also one of 10 poets featured on the WAVE Books
Web site at
www.wavepoetry.com/bedazzler.
"The publisher considered a number of manuscripts and
I was a finalist to be published," said Pritts. "They
decided to put a number of 'up and coming' poets on their site.
WAVE Books is a for-profit company, so I glad that my manuscript
is out there so other editors may see it. This is the last step
toward getting a manuscript published."
Pritts has been invited to participate in the Writing
by Degrees Conference at Binghamton University in Binghamton,
N.Y. He will be part of a panel discussing online publishing and
will read some of his work. Pritts may also moderate some other
panels.
