NATCHITOCHES - Students in the College of Business at Northwestern State University will have access to a state of the art multimedia presentation system in Russell Hall. The system will be completed and installed due to a donation of $25,000 from People's State Bank to the NSU Foundation.

"People's State Bank is proud to make this donation. We have been a strong advocate of Northwestern State University, and we are interested in helping the entire area we serve. This is one way to do that," said Pete Abington, chairman of the board of People's State Bank. "It is important for students to have the tools they need to help them develop. This state of the art system will serve the students and others who will use it."

The donation is in addition to a $25,000 gift from Northwestern alumnus David Morgan to purchase a high quality projector. The system will be installed in the David Morgan Auditorium on the first floor of Russell Hall. The system can also be used by classes in other disciplines and by area businesses for a variety of presentations. Dr. A. Richard Tarver, coordinator of Carl Perkins Programs at NSU, made initial contact with People's State Bank. Assistant Professor of Business Dr. Susan White helped develop the grant proposal.

"We are grateful to People's State Bank for their gift which will have a positive impact on Northwestern," said NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb. "Our faculty will be able to prepare classroom presentations that will better educate our students and help them compete more effectively after graduation."

The donation will allow the Foundation to purchase speakers, a control system, radio frequency mouse, computer keyboard, document camera, VCR and lectern.

"The donation is the largest one we have ever made," said Abington. "This shows that the board of directors, employees and shareholders of People's State Bank value Northwestern very highly. The donation is a symbol of our commitment and dedication to the university."

People's State Bank was founded in 1915 and has offices in Sabine, Caddo, DeSoto, Natchitoches and Rapides Parishes.
