NATCHITOCHES - Nineteen students at Northwestern State University will be inducted into the Purple Jacket Club Feb. 19. The Purple Jacket Club is one of the university's oldest honorary service organizations. Membership is limited to 35 students who are selected based on scholarship, outstanding achievement, exceptional leadership and high ideals.

Those selected are Laura Blakely and Shondale Smith of Shreveport, Tracey Camburn of Belle Chase, Jennifer Gray Dauenhauer of Bossier City, Katie Dollar of Pineville, Nadra Harrison of New Orleans, Kristen Holley of Waskom, Texas, Bridget Hundley of Opelousas and Jennifer Jackson from LeCompte.

Also selected were Marie Johnson and Felicia Price of Alexandria, Rebecca Kaiser of Greenwell Springs, Lori Miller of Clinton, Megan Sharkey of Ball. Laci Stokes of Pioneer, Cherish Traylor of Myrtle, Miss., Angela Warnock from Wills Point, Texas, Kristin Wilkins of Metairie and Megan Wyatt of Crowley

The Purple Jacket Club was founded by V.L. Roy, the president of Louisiana State Normal School (now Northwestern), in 1927 as a service club for women. Members
volunteer to work at events including Career and Professional Days, conferences, and commencement. They also assist guests in the President's Box at home football games.

Members must have at least a 3.0 GPA by their junior year. In addition, each member must be in two other campus-affiliated organizations and be an officer in at least one organization.
