                        FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES- The annual Northwestern State University golf scramble and dinner in Winnfield will be named for a long-time NSU supporter.  This year’s event has been named the Don Purser Memorial Golf Scramble and will take place at the Pine Ridge Country Club on Monday, July 30.

The four-person golf scramble will begin at 1:30 p.m. with an NSU coach or staff member playing on each team.  A prime rib dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and will include a short program featuring NSU President Dr. Randall J. Webb, Athletic Director Greg Burke, Head Football Coach Scott Stoker, Head Basketball Coaches Mike McConathy and Jennifer Graf, along with other NSU staff. Speakers will preview the coming year and extend a welcome to future NSU students from Winn Parish.

The cost of the dinner is $10 per person.  There is no charge to participate in the golf scramble.

Purser, a former Winnfield resident, attended Northwestern where he lettered in football.  He was regional director of Region 6 and Huey P. Long Vo-Tech School, a past president of the Winnfield Rotary Club and a U.S. Navy veteran. He passed away in January.

For more information or to register for the golf scramble and /or dinner,  contact the NSU Office of Alumni and Development at (318) 357-4414 or e-mail Dr. Chris Maggio at maggioc@nsula.edu.
