NATCHITOCHES - The Louisiana Association for Academic Competition will sponsor the 16th Annual State Quiz Bowl Tournament at Northwestern State University Saturday, March 24.
Thirty-two teams from around Louisiana will compete. Morning rounds begin at 8:30 a.m. with afternoon rounds starting at 1 p.m. Semifinal rounds begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by the finals. The semifinals and finals will be in the Ora G. Williams Television Studio in Room 142 of Kyser Hall.
Participants include: Barbe and St. Louis Catholic of Lake Charles, Academy of the Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau, Anacoco, Bell City, Bolton and Menard of Alexandria, Brother Martin, Newman and Jesuit of New Orleans, Caddo Magnet and Captain Shreve of Shreveport, Catholic of Baton Rouge, Catholic of New Iberia, Cedar Creek of Ruston and E.D. White of Thibodaux.
Also competing are Evans, Hathaway, Jennings, the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, McKinley and University High of Baton Rouge, Minden, Opelousas Catholic, Ridgewood Prep and St. Martin's Episcopal of Metairie, St. Frederick of Monroe, St. Mary's of Natchitoches, St. Thomas More of Lafayette, Vandebilt Catholic of Houma, Zachary and Zwolle.
The overall champion will compete in the Panasonic Academic Challenge in Orlando, Fla. in June.
