NATCHITOCHES - Catholic High School of New Iberia won the 16th Annual State Quiz Bowl Championship held at Northwestern State University.
Catholic, the Division III champion, defeated Division II champion Vandebilt Catholic of Houma in the finals. Vandebilt has been state runner up for the past three years. Catholic beat Division IV champion St. Mary's of Natchitoches in the semifinals. Vandebilt defeated Division I champion, the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts of Natchitoches, in the other semifinal. Catholic High will represent Louisiana in the Panasonic Academic Challenge in Orlando, Fla., in June.

Division I 1. Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts; 2. Jesuit of New Orleans; 3. Caddo Magnet;
Division II Vandebilt Catholic; 2. E.D. White of Thibodaux; 3. McKinley of Baton Rouge;
Division III 1. Catholic High of New Iberia; 2. Menard; 3. University Lab of Baton Rouge;
Division IV 1. St. Mary's of Natchitoches; 2. Cedar Creek of Ruston; 3. Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau.
