NATCHITOCHES - The Louisiana Association for Academic Competition will sponsor the 17th Annual State Quiz Bowl Tournament at Northwestern State University Saturday, April 5.
Thirty-two teams from around Louisiana will compete. Morning rounds begin at 8:30 a.m. with afternoon rounds starting at 1 p.m. Semifinal rounds begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by the finals. The semifinals and finals will be in the Ora G. Williams Television Studio in Room 142 of Kyser Hall.
Participants include: C.E. Byrd and Caddo Magnet of Shreveport, Barbe and St. Louis Catholic of Lake Charles, the Louisiana School for Math, Science & Arts and St. Mary’s of Natchitoches, Baton Rouge Magnet, Catholic High, McKinley and Family Christian Academy of Baton Rouge and E.D. White of Thibodaux.
Also participating are Zachary, Brother Martin, Jesuit and Newman of New Orleans, Minden, Bolton and Holy Savior Menard of Alexandria, Anacoco, Eunice and Vandebilt Catholic of Houma.
Other qualifiers for the State Quiz Bowl Tournament are Zwolle, Sacred Heart of Ville Platte, Catholic of New Iberia, Episcopal School of Acadiana of Cade, St. Martin’s Episcopal of Metairie, Cedar Creek of Ruston, River Oaks of Monroe, Simpson, Academy of the Sacred Heart of Grand Coteau, Cenla Christian of Pineville and South Plaquemines of Port Sulphur.
The overall champion will compete in the Panasonic Academic Challenge in Orlando, Fla. in June.
