NATCHITOCHES-A donation has been made to the NSU Foundation endowing the Clothilde Wagley Rains Nursing Scholarship at Northwestern State University.

The scholarship was established in 1994 to honor Rains, a long-time Northwestern employee who served as a second mother to two generations of NSU students. Rains was a cashier at ARA Food Service and was beloved by students, faculty and staff for her caring attitude toward others. Before coming to NSU, Rains worked at South Central Bell for 14 years and at area department stores. She died in 1994.

Northwestern presented Rains with an Nth Degree which is given in recognition of unselfish devotion to duty and willingness to make an extra effort in meritorious service to mankind.

The Rains Scholarship will assist a junior or senior nursing major and will be awarded in the fall and spring semesters.
