NATCHITOCHES - A pre-licensing real estate education course will be offered by Northwestern State University's Office of Continuing Education beginning Tuesday, Jan. 11. The class will run through March 11 with a final exam on March 14.

The class will be held in Room 225 of Russell Hall on NSU's Natchitoches campus, and is designed to provide background for those interested in real estate sales. During the course, students will learn the mandated civil law of Louisiana as it pertains to real estate licensees. Rules and regulations of the Louisiana Real Estate Commission will also be covered.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Subjects to be covered in the course are: the understanding and definition of real property, various rights of ownership and familiarity with the physical and economic characteristics of land. Other areas of emphasis include: factors used to determine fixture and improvement status, differences between ownership, the three types of freehold estates, the bundle of rights and Louisiana ownership as it pertains to the state's Civil Code.

Diana Jacob-Rouhoff is the instructor. The fee for the class is $300 plus a supply fee.
