FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - April Jordan and Kayla Morvan have been named admissions counselors at Northwestern State University, according to Director of Admissions and Recruiting Jana Lucky.

Jordan, a graduate of Montgomery High School, received a bachelor's degree in business administration from NSU in May. She graduated cum laude. While an undergraduate, Jordan worked in the Office of Admissions and Recruiting and for Century Campus Housing Management at University Columns Apartments.

"Since I worked in the office, I had an idea of what they did. I liked the people and the opportunity to travel and let people know about Northwestern," said Jordan. "Northwestern has a great deal to offer students. You get personal attention from the faculty and have the opportunity to find a group or organization that meets your interests."

Jordan was active in extracurricular activities while a student. She was president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and a member of the Order of Omega, Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Sigma Alpha and the Gavel Club. She was also a member of the Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Demon Sweethearts.

An honor roll student, Morvan received a bachelor's degree in general studies in May. She worked in the Department of Health and Human Performance and as a counselor at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Camp Bethany.

Morvan, who is from Logansport, said NSU's academic reputation will be something she will let perspective students know about.

"Northwestern has 100 percent of its eligible programs accredited, something few other universities in Louisiana can say," she said. "That speaks highly of the university and once that is explained to students, that will mean a lot to them."

Morvan was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, serving as campus activities chairman and intramural chairman. She served as a National Panhellenic Senior Delegate. Morvan was also a Demon Sweetheart and was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

"I will encourage students to get involved from the beginning in activities," said Morvan. "If they get involved, their chances of staying and graduating are higher. I was very involved while I was a student and this will allow me to give something back to Northwestern."

Jordan will recruit in the New Orleans area while Morvan will recruit in the Baton Rouge area.
