NATCHITOCHES- Beth Renfrow of Pitkin has been named a recipient of a Police Jury Association of Louisiana Scholarship. Renfrow is a senior political science major at Northwestern State University.

According to NSU Associate Professor of Political Science Dr. Alex Aichinger, Renfrow has established herself as a "solid student, capable of mastering assigned material and conducting meaningful independent research."

Last year, she was one of two students selected to present a paper at the Louisiana Political Science Association meeting in Natchitoches. She is expanding that presentation on humanitarian intervention in international politics to include the military's role in humanitarian policy. The article will be submitted to an academic journal for publication.

Renfrow is among the organizers of the Evangeline Society, a not-for-profit charitable, community oriented organization, currently being set up by students attending Northwestern.

She plans to attend graduate school and obtain a doctorate degree in political science with the objective of becoming a university professor.
