FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Two works by Northwestern State University student Rhett Fitzgerald have been selected for exhibit in the annual Tom Peyton Memorial Arts Festival in Alexandria. The Festival is scheduled for Feb. 9-18 at First United Methodist Church on Jackson St. in Alexandria.

Fitzgerald's two works "Vycentallic" and "Morelous" are abstract sculptures.

"Vycentallic" is 12 x 22 x 6 inches. The work has a patera finish and has a clear powder coating to protect it from further oxidation. "Morelous" is 13 x 32 x 18 inches with a powder coating and silver hammertone finish.

"Being accepted for this show is very important to me. It gives some validity to my work," said Fitzgerald, a graduate student from Oakdale. "For someone outside this area to see my work and say that is good enough to be in a juried show is good."

Fitzgerald hopes the acceptance of his work in the show can help him in obtaining his goal of earning a Masters of Fine Arts. He is in the process of applying to various graduate schools.
