FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- Northwestern State University's Office of University Recruiting staff members are hitting the road to tell prospective students about what the university has to offer.
Five in-state recruiters will work across Louisiana while one out-of-state recruiter will travel in east Texas to talk with students about NSU's strong academic programs and student life. Each staff member plans to attend high school or parish college fairs and visit individual schools to talk with small groups of students.
"We want to get to know the students who are considering Northwestern and build relationships," said Assistant Director of Recruiting for High School Relations April Jordan. "When these students need help, someone is there who knows them and can assist them quickly."
According to Jordan, many high school seniors learn about Northwestern for the first time through a personal visit from a recruiter.
"Our goal is to visit every high school in the state that allows personal visits," she said. "We use many methods to recruit students including phone calls, letters and personalized e-mails. But putting the recruiting staff on the road and in the schools has proven to be the best tactic yet."
The Office of University Recruiting has an experienced staff of second-year recruiters that are familiar with their respective territories. Members of the staff and their territories are: Matt Courville (southwest Louisiana), Dave Frederick (Greater Lafayette/New Orleans), Ellen Dutsch (Greater Baton Rouge), Winter Militello (central Louisiana), Nicole Waldron (north Louisiana) and Erin Drago (east Texas).
"Each of the recruiters has spent a year on the road.
They know how to establish relationships and will be able to spend
more time meeting with students," said Jordan.
