NATCHITOCHES - The 16 th annual Chris Roper Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Northwestern State University Office of Alumni Affairs, will be held Saturday, April 25 at the Robert W. Wilson Recreation Complex in Natchitoches.
Roper died in a traffic accident over the Christmas holidays in 1982. A native of Camden, Ark., Roper was a senior at NSU and the top golfer on the 1981 Demon squad. He was a member of the All-Trans America Conference team, placing ninth in the League Tournament.
The fee for the five-man scramble is $30 which includes lunch. Cart rental fees are $7. Additional meal tickets can be purchased for $5 each.
Prizes and trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place teams. Other events include the Putting contest, the Closest to the Hole contest and the Long Drive.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the NSU Golf Team.
