NATCHITOCHES - The NSU rowing team had its best overall effort in a early spring regatta at the Atlanta Rowing Festival in Roswell, Ga. Northwestern's varsity men's four and women's lightweight four team won gold medals. The varsity women's openweight four and novice men's four team won silver medals. Sixteen squads including Tulane, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Georgia and Alabama competed. The 1,500 meter course was on the Chattahoochee River.

"This meet was important because it gave us an idea of where we stand against quality teams and what we will focus on in our spring training," said NSU rowing coach Calvin Cupp. "Based on our performance we have the foundation to build on that will put us in place to compete to place at our conference regatta."

Northwestern's varsity men's eight team was second in its heat. The novice lightweight four team was second in its heat and had the third best time over all heats. The novice women's eight and novice open weight four teams were both third in their respective heats.

NSU was able to participate in the meet due to funds provided by Northwestern's Student Activities Board.
