NATCHITOCHES- Dr. Martin Rudd, assistant professor of chemistry at Northwestern State University delivered the presentation, "You and the American Chemical Society" at the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Louisiana State University at Shreveport. The lecture was apart of their Fall Seminar Series.
Dr. Rudd is the chair elect for the Northeast Louisiana American Chemical Society for 2001 and serve as president for 2002. Rudd's duties include overseeing the activities of the academic, industrial, and student divisions, which make up the Northwest Louisiana region. Among other duties, Rudd will be reporting to national headquarters in Washington, D.C., arranging and supervising local section events. These events include a selection of nationally known chemistry seminar speakers coming to Northwestern in 2002 to deliver public lectures on topics of contemporary and general interest chemistry.
This is the first time in many years a faculty member of Northwestern has held such a prominent position. Rudd considers it an honor to serve as chair elect.
"This is a wonderful chance to get our American Chemical
Society student affiliates involved at all level of planning our
local and regional events, said Rudd. Over the last few years
we have become a very active society. I would like to thank our
current president and vice president, Polly Crawford and Brooke
Sledge for their support as we go forward with this busy year
of activities in the Department of Chemistry and Physics,"
Rudd said.
