FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University's Panhellenic sororities will hold their annual Formal Rush Aug. 14-17. More than 100 women have signed up to participate, and applications are still being accepted, according to Greek advisor Reatha Cox.

The first party has a theme of "Fun With Philanthropy." During this party, sorority members and rushees will work together on a philanthropic project. The next round of parties are "open house" parties where rushees tour chapter houses and learn about each sorority.

During the third round, "Theme Day," each chapter performs a skit and decorates its house. The final round is Preference Day which will be held in the chapter houses.

The rushees will spend time getting acquainted with each other and their rush counselors (Rho Chi's) through activities such as an educational program presented by Scottie Rodgers, dinner at Merci Beaucoup, a stress release workshop, game night and a pizza party. Rho Chi's are sorority women who have disaffiliated from their chapter during rush to assist rushees in the process.

The three sororities participating in Formal Rush are Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu and Sigma Sigma Sigma. For more information, contact Cox at 357-6511 or visit Room 214 in the Friedman Student Union on the NSU campus.
