NATCHITOCHES - Course delivery via the Internet is one of the future challenges for colleges and universities. An article co-authored by Northwestern State University Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Dr. Anthony Scheffler is designed to give those entering the field some guidance.

The article, "An Applications Model for Internet Delivery of Graduate Coursework," will be published in the Winter edition of The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin. Scheffler co-authored the article with former NSU faculty member Maria Betancourt-Smith, assistant principal and academic advisor at Woodville (Texas) High School and former student David Kirkwood.

According to Scheffler, the article describes a delivery model that helps ensure consistency and the economy and quality of delivery of such coursework. He said the model reflects a functional appreciation for the technological skill level of students and faculty and the availability of resources.

"Changing socio-economic conditions, rapid advances in technology and a consumer's market have precipitated an increased use of technology to deliver university coursework," said Scheffler. "As more universities go online, concerns about the consistency and quality if Internet-based coursework have increased proportionally."
