NATCHITOCHES - April Seegers of Many has been named as a recipient of the Sam B. Davis Scholarship at Northwestern State University. The scholarship is awarded annually to a top student in the College of Business at NSU.
A 1995 honor graduate of Many High School, Seegers is majoring in business administration at NSU. In three years at Northwestern, she has been a president's list student, maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.
"The business field is an area that provides a lot of opportunities," she said. "Once you earn your degree, you are qualified to do a number of things. The great thing is that the field is changing and more job opportunities are being created daily."
Seegers hopes to work in marketing or finance. She'd like to try the banking field initially. While at Northwestern, Seegers has tried to take a variety of business courses to prepare not only for her professional career, but also for other aspects of life.
"I took classes in insurance and real estate because even though I don't plan to go into those areas, I want to be knowledgeable so I can make intelligent decisions," said Seegers.
In addition to her outstanding work in the classroom, Seegers is a member of two business honor societies, Phi Beta Lambda and Beta Gamma Sigma and an academic honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.
