NATCHITOCHES - Dr. Frank Serio, assistant professor of mathematics at Northwestern State University, recently attended the International Conference on Industry, Engineering and Management Systems in Cocoa Beach, Flo.
The conference brought together 120 professors and graduate students in the fields of engineering, business, math and computer science from all over the world.
Serio presented a paper "Technology Based Reform in Mathematics and Computer Science Instruction" which dealt with new developments in technology, such as the graphing calculator and availability of the internet, and the impact these have had on the way mathematics and computing courses are taught.
Serio also served as the track chairman for the Simulation and Modeling track portion of the conference.
