NATCHITOCHES-The Sigma Gamma Phi chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association (ACJA) at Northwestern State University held its first induction ceremony Monday. Eleven student members and three faculty members joined the group after taking its oath.
Those inducted into Sigma Gamma Phi included club president Veronica Valtierra of New Llano, secretary Anna Miller of Leesville, Walter Nugent of Libuse, Mark Cormier of Hampton, Va., Kendra Stewart of Fort Polk, Karen Moss of Natchitoches, Heather Green of Anacoco and Donald Gaines of Alexandria. Faculty advisor Dr.Micheal J. Kane along with criminal justice faculty Joe Morris and Frank Kyle were also inducted.
The organization has 23 members and is working to increase
its membership among the 363 criminal justice majors at NSU.
