NATCHITOCHES - The NSU Summer Dinner Theatre will present the comedy "110 in the Shade" June 22 through July 1 on the main stage of the A.A. Fredericks Auditorium. Dr. Jack Wann will direct.

"110 in the Shade" is based on the hit play and award-winning film "The Rainmaker" which starred Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn.

Members of the cast include Clayton Chauvin of Abbeville as Starbuck, Shelly Colvin of Winnfield and Jena Peevy of Broken Arrow, Okla. splitting the role of Lizzie, Dale Higginbotham of Natchitoches as File, Patrick Thomassie of New Iberia as Jimmie, Cory Pichoff of Morgan City as Noah, April Gentry of Morrilton, Ark. as Snookie and Duke Ponds of Tullos as H.C.

Also in the cast are Eric DeFratis of Natchitoches as Gil Demby and Preacher, Carla Hallock of Longview, Texas as Olive Barrow, Amy Magouirk of West Monroe as Lillie Ann B., Robin Rose of Natchitoches as Hannah and Melissa Hicks of West Monroe as Bertie. Rounding out the cast are Br. Michael David Elvestrom of Natchitoches as Toby, the Depot Master, Dana Duhon of Abbeville as Gussie, Seth Lebert of Lake Charles as Phil Mackey, Dylan Kennedy of Natchitoches as Geshy Toops, Sarah Blum of Lafayette as Meg and Josie Rodriguez of Natchitoches as Belinda.

Richard Rose is the musical director with Hallock as choreographer and Linda Higganbotham as accompanist. Sharon Foster will do lighting, makeup and costumes while Jim Hart will handle set construction and Elvestrom will do scene painting.

The comedy is set in the West during a drought where a father and his two sons are more worried about their daughter/sister becoming an old maid than the cattle on their farm who are dying.

The brothers try every scheme they can imagine to marry off the girl without success. One day a man called Starbuck comes to them promising to bring rain for $100. The men agree to hire the engaging young man. The rainmaker turns his charm on the girl and rain comes along with love.
