NATCHITOCHES - The Mrs. H.D. Dear, Sr. and Alice E. Dear Department of Creative and Performing Arts will present its annual Faculty Showcase concert Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
Eight faculty members from the Department of Creative and Performing Arts will perform, according to concert organizer Tony Smith, an associate professor of music at NSU.
"This program is designed to show off our faculty to students in creative and performing arts, but we hope people in the community will join us for this fun, entertaining concert," said Smith.
The program will include pianist Dr. Russell Hirshfield performing the music of Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez, clarinetist Dr. Bruce Bullock performing "Generation X Concerto" by Scott McAllister and flutist Dr. Dennette McDermott presenting a work by Gaubert. Pianist Christine Allen will play dances by Ginastera, and trombonist Dr. William Mathis will perform Spanish dances by Granados. Allen and Hirshfield will also be featured accompanists.
Theatre faculty members Dr. Vicki Parrish, Ed Brazo and Scott Burrell will close out the concert with a song and dance number from the musical "Damn Yankees."
